A Potted History
Avoncroft Cricket Club was founded in 1947 and has provided cricket to the local community for players both young, not so young and spectators over this long period.
In its early years, Avoncroft was very much a ‘village club’, but this did not stop them distinguishing themselves as worthy competitors in the National Village Trophy in the 1970’s as well as being formidable opposition to other local clubs.
The 1980’s saw the Club participating in the early years of Worcestershire League Cricket, entering two teams for several years. At the start of the 1990s a lack of players forced the club to contract to a single league team on Saturdays and a Sunday team playing friendlies. The Sunday team continues in this manner today.
However, greater development of the youth sides and outstanding recent success means that Avoncroft is now a rapidly developing club and aspiring and committed cricketers are always welcome.
