Under 8s beat Barnt Green to clinch 1st place in festival
Avoncroft Under 8’s won all three matches to win the second festival of the season hosted by Barnt Green.
In the first match Cookhill were restricted to 217 with wickets for Sam Bennett and Ben Mumford in an excellent bowling display by all bowlers. Avoncroft responded with 237 with valuable contributions from Ben Athey, Hayden Smith and Joseph Billig to seal a 20 run win.
In the second match against Barnt Green a solid batting display with no wickets lost led to a score of 239 with Captain Greaves smashing 14 runs. A good bowling and fielding performance with 8 wickets limited Barnt Green to 225 for a 14 run win. 3 wickets in an over for Oliver Smith aided by two catches by Henry Greaves along with wickets for Sam Bennett, Ben Athey, Jack Seers, Joseph Billig and Callum Hooper were the highlights of an impressive bowling and fielding performance.
In the deciding match Ombersley scored 231 with two wickets for Ben Mumford and one each for Jack Seers and Henry Greaves. In reply Avoncroft produced their best batting performance to notch 250 for a 19 run win with Jack Seers smashing 17 with 2 sixes and good contributions from Henry Greaves, Oliver Smith and Callum Bennett.
