Avoncroft Under 9’s win the Festival hosted by Belbroughton on a sweltering hot Sunday afternoon with a 100% record.
In the first match against Barnt Green, Avoncroft produced their best bowling and fielding performance of the season to restrict Barnt Green to 207 with two wickers apiece for Callum Hooper and Ben Athey one for Pete Smith and a superb run out from Jack Seers. A solid batting performance throughout with good contributions from Oliver Smith and Ben Huxley with 10 runs apiece resulted in a score of 267 with no wickets lost.
In the second match against the hosts Belbroughton, a solid batting performance resulted in a score of 255 with the only mishaps being the running between the wickets. Two wickets apiece for Jack Seers and Pete Smith helped restrict the score to 228 for a good win.
In the deciding match against local rivals Bromsgrove, Avoncroft batted first and scored 254 with two wickets lost thanks to another solid batting display. Bromsgrove were then restricted to 230 with two wickets for Jack Seers and one apiece for Ben Athey and Ben Huxley.
