Avoncroft Sunday XI recorded a 70 run victory over an ever improving Harvington side in their friendly fixture.
With the sun shining Croft won the toss and batted first. Dan Elliott and Christopher Pitt played fluently in an opening stand of 65 before Dan was unlucky to be given out LBW for 45. Max Jukes fell quickly afterwards before Cameron Wilkes and Chris shared a 69 run stand, Cam falling for 12. Josh Cound added a quick fire 32 before falling and Chris reached 85 leaving Croft on 197 for 6. Some late hitting from Andy Wise who finished unbeaten on 20 got Croft to 224 for 9 from their 40 overs.
In reply Crofts opening new ball pair of James Downing and Max Jukes bowled a superb opening spell, James took 2 wickets from 8 overs and only conceded 16 runs and Max took 1 wicket from 6 overs and only went for 11 runs. This opening spell knocked the stuffing out of Harvington and being 27 for 3 from 14 overs they decided to shut up shop. Jon Bird and Tim Davis managed to pick up a wicket each before a late spell of off spin from Dan Elliott added a further 2 wickets. Harvingtons lower order played some shots towards the end and finished their innings on 154 for 7 from 40 overs.
