URGENT MESSAGE FROM AVONCROFT CC CHAIRMAN ROD BRAITHWAITE
DEAR MEMBERS, JUNIORS AND THEIR PARENTS, VICE-PRESIDENTS AND FRIENDS,
The Avoncroft CC Committee would like to keep you up-to-date with the state of the Club at this difficult time. As you would expect, we also want to ask for your help and support for the Club, both now and over the coming months.
Personally, let me say how proud I am of our wonderful Club, especially the dedicated and inspiring committee who are unstinting in their commitment to the Club. We are all agreed that our main aims for the Club are crystal clear as a result of the crisis. They are—
- TO MAKE CERTAIN THAT OUR PROVISION FOR CRICKET ON OUR SPLENDID GROUND IS READY FOR MEMBERS AND JUNIORS BY THE TIME WE ARE ALLOWED TO RE-OPEN,
- TO CONTINUE TO PROVIDE HIGH QUALITY COACHING, SUPPORT AND CRICKET SKILLS DEVELOPMENT FOR OUR MANY JUNIOR MEMBERS,
- MOST IMPORTANTLY, TO ENABLE THE CLUB TO SURVIVE AS A CENTRE FOR COMMUNITY SPORTING AND SOCIAL LIFE IN BROMSGROVE AND OUR NEIGHBOURING VILLAGES.
In order to achieve these aims, our Club needs all of you to help in whatever way you can. Clearly, you will realise that for now and the foreseeable future, the Club will be receiving no income in order to maintain our facilities and ground. We have a number of financial liabilities such as insurance, water, electricity and especially the upkeep of our pavilion and ground equipment . We have very recently extended our lease of the ground for another 15 years securing our long-term future, costing us legal fees of £1000. We are also negotiating for grants, and repaying loans for ground equipment.
SO HOW CAN YOU HELP US? WE FULLY APPRECIATE THAT THERE WILL BE WIDE
DIFFERENCES IN YOUR PERSONAL CIRCUMSTANCES AND ARE NOT ASKING EVERYONE
TO PROVIDE US WITH FINANCE. THERE ARE A NUMBER OF WAYS YOU CAN HELP, AND
WE ALSO WELCOME YOUR SUGGESTIONS.
- If you can help by paying part or even all of your playing subscription for the year, this will be a great help. We will offset this when we are able to return to playing.
- Straightforward donations would be a great help especially from anyone who would like to sponsor the Club.
- All players should endeavour to be members of the 100 Club, and perhaps encourage others to join. At least there is a chance of winning a reward!
- We would welcome suggestions for raising money without the necessity of social gatherings. Please be pro-active.
THESE ARE JUST A FEW IDEAS WE HAVE PUT TOGETHER SO FAR. OUR CAPTAINS AND
COACHES WILL BE CONTACTING YOU, OR YOU CAN GET IN TOUCH WITH THEM. JUST
KEEP THE FAITH IN CRICKET AND AVONCROFT, DREAM OF THE GAME AND YOU WILL
BE REWARDED IN THE FUTURE WHEN YOU WALK OUT ONCE MORE ON OUR GREEN AND
PLEASANT GROUND IN WARM SUNSHINE. YOUR CLUB NEEDS YOU!!
GOOD LUCK TO ALL,
AND KEEP SAFE,
ROD
