About Us

Avoncroft Cricket Club was founded in 1947 and has provided cricket to the local community for players both young, not so young and spectators over this long period.

In its early years, Avoncroft was very much a ‘village club’, but this did not stop them distinguishing themselves as worthy competitors in the National Village Trophy in the 1970’s as well as being formidable opposition to other local clubs.

The 1980’s saw the Club participating in the early years of Worcestershire League Cricket, entering two teams for several years. In 1996 a lack of players forced the club to contract to a single league team on Saturdays and a Sunday team playing friendlies. In 2001 the club returned to playing both 1st and 2nd team cricket, and competed in the 3rd XI league for a period of 8 seasons from 2004 onwards. Since 2001, the club has returned to competing in 1st and 2nd team league cricket on a saturday, but has ambitions to re-launch the 3rd team in the next few years due to our flourishing junior section. The Sunday team increased there competitiveness by entering the Worcestershire Sunday Club Cricket League in 2012. The Sunday team continues in this manner today, along with a mix of friendly fixtures to compliment a full schedule.

Greater development of the youth sides and outstanding recent success means that Avoncroft is now a rapidly developing club both on and off the field.  Aspiring and committed cricketers are always welcome.
